We recently came across The National Garden Scheme.
The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to over 3,500 exceptional private gardens in England and Wales, and raises impressive amounts of money for nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.
Quite how this has passed us by for so long we don’t know but better late than never as they say so we got in touch with The National Garden Scheme to find out a bit more about Open Gardens in Surrey and were delighted when they took the time to share details of the many, many beautiful gardens that are open for you to visit (for a small admission – with most offering free admission to children) across Surrey this summer.
Founded in 1927 to support district nurses and thanks to the generosity of garden owners, volunteers and visitors they have donated a total of £55 million to nursing and health charities (making a record annual donation of £3.1 million in 2018).
The National Garden Scheme is now the most significant charitable funder of nursing in the UK (beneficiaries include Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute).
The National Garden Scheme is nationwide so please do take a look at their brilliant website for details of open gardens up and down the country
Take a look at some of the stunning private gardens that are open for you to visit this summer.
